- Diego ¿Ya graba? La luz está roja. Don Ramón, ¿empiezo? Is it recording yet? The light is red. Don Ramón, shall I start?
- Ramón Sí, sí. Empieza, Diego. Yes, yes. Start, Diego.
- Diego Hola, hola… perdón. Otra vez. Hello, hello… sorry. Again.

How to learn Spanish with a podcast
Use one episode several times, a little differently each time. The episodes are short so that this is easy:
- Listen once without the text. Catch what you can.
- Listen again with the Spanish text. Tap a line to hear it again.
- Read the English to check what you didn’t catch.
- Pick one phrase from the episode and say it out loud a few times.
- Answer the episode’s question yourself, out loud: what do you think?
The two hosts
Both hosts have AI-generated voices: an AI voice with a Spain accent and an AI voice with a Mexican accent.
Ramón has spent 34 years as the portero, the concierge, of a building in Madrid. He writes down every parcel in a paper notebook. One went missing in 2003, and he’s still looking for it. He speaks Spanish from Spain.
Diego is from Guadalajara and speaks Mexican Spanish. The podcast was his idea: his microphone, his computer. He can still barely stand his own voice on a recording.
So you hear both kinds of Spanish side by side. In one episode they compare words: Ramón says autobús and conducir, Diego says camión and manejar. The show is called Desde la portería, “from the concierge’s desk”, because that’s where they record.

The same story at two levels
The sloth episode comes at A1 and at A2, so you can hear what changes from one level to the next. The question is the same: how much does a sloth sleep?
At A1 the episode is under four minutes, with short sentences, mostly in the present tense. At A2 it runs close to six minutes. It adds the past tense, as in Diego’s me quedé dormido (“I fell asleep”), more facts about how sloths live, and a small bet between the hosts. Start with A1, then try A2 and see how much more you follow.
How we make the episodes
Each episode starts from one question and named sources. The sources and their licenses are listed on the episode page. The script is written with AI and checked automatically: other AI models check the facts, the level, and the Spanish, and each episode gets a second check before it opens here. The voices are AI-generated, and a short note at the start of every episode says so. No human voices are used.
More episodes
New topics open one at a time, after that second check of the facts and the Spanish. Each topic has one page, with every level of it in tabs.
Questions
What is a good Spanish podcast for beginners?
One that’s slow enough to follow, short enough to replay, and comes with the full text. These episodes start at A1, run about four to six minutes, and have every line in Spanish and English. Start with an A1 episode, listen twice, then read along.
Is there a Spanish podcast with a transcript?
Yes. Every episode here has the full text on its page, line by line, in Spanish and English, with the name of who is speaking. Tap a line to hear it again. The text works without the audio too, so you can read first and listen after.
Are the voices real people?
No. The voices are AI-generated, and the hosts are characters. A short note at the start of each episode says so. The script is written with AI and checked automatically, and the facts come from sources named on each episode page.
Which Spanish do the hosts speak?
Both kinds. Ramón speaks Spanish from Spain, with an AI voice with a Spain accent. Diego is from Guadalajara and speaks Mexican Spanish, with an AI voice with a Mexican accent. Every line in the text shows who says it, so you can hear the differences.
How long are the episodes?
Most run five to six minutes. The shortest, the A1 sloth episode, is just under four minutes. Short episodes are easy to replay, and you can read the full text on the page while you listen.
