About Talewell
Last updated:
Talewell is a Spanish app for adults. You choose things you like, such as cooking, dogs, or family, and read or listen to short Spanish stories at your level, A1 to B2. Tap a word for its meaning. Then talk it over with an AI partner who fixes one mistake at a time: Ramón for Spanish from Spain, Diego for Mexican Spanish. Spain and Mexican Spanish in one app.
Coming as a phone app
What else the app will have
Besides stories, podcast episodes, and talks with your AI partner, the app will have word cards: the words you save and the mistakes from your talks will become cards to practice later. We also plan to let you bring your Spanish cards from Quizlet or Anki and to act out short role-play scenes.
The app isn’t out yet, and we’ll share the price at launch. Until then, you can try our free Spanish level test on this website.
Who it’s for
Adults learning Spanish from A1 to B2 who want to read about things they like and then speak. It isn’t exam prep, and it doesn’t replace a human teacher.
How our texts are made
Each text starts from a named source, which we show with its license under the text. An AI model writes the Spanish text at one level. Two other AI models, from different companies, then check it: the facts against the source, the level, and the kind of Spanish, Spain or Mexico. No human editor reviews each text, so a mistake can get through.
How our podcast is made
Each episode starts from one question and named sources, listed with their licenses on the episode page. The script is written with AI and checked automatically, with a second check by other AI models before an episode opens. The voices are AI-generated, and a short note at the start of each episode says so.
Who Ramón and Diego are
Ramón and Diego are AI characters. They host the podcast, and in the app you will talk with one of them, depending on the Spanish you learn. They are not teachers.
Ramón speaks Spanish from Spain. He has spent 34 years at the front desk of a building in Madrid. One parcel went missing in 2003, and he’s still looking for it.
Diego is from Guadalajara and speaks Mexican Spanish. He checks urban legends for fun. His grandpa swears he was Pelé’s ball boy in 1970.
What we don’t do
No streaks, points, or progress percentages. No countdowns, no “last chance”, and no messages that make you feel behind. This website has no ads, and we don’t sell your email. If you leave it with us, you get one email when the app is out, plus one email to confirm your address.
